The Terrible Two’s Have Arrived

We’re (my triplet daughters) are not quite two yet - but boy oh boy do we ever act the part.  We’re going through a naked phase - it’s not as fun as the name might imply - especially since we’re not potty trained (thank God for wood floors!).  One of my daughters will start undressing followed by the next and so on.  It’s all out mutiny.  They have a blast at nap time.  We’ve mastered elastic waistbands, snaps and buttons.  They have yet to conquer the fastners on overalls - but can easily remove them if they snap at the legs.  I’ve spoken to other triplet moms - this seems to be very common.  My son never did this - he’s super conservative and the thought would never cross his mind.  Obviously, them constantly undressing isn’t the worse thing that could happen - but it is a constant challenge when you are trying to get out the door or bringing my son to preschool (the girls take off whatever they can in the car on the way there - it’s only a 5 minute drive).  I think we’re just beginning our new stinker pot phase.  Today, they dumped out their Cheerios on the floor (which is not unsual) - I asked them to go get their little brooms out of the utility closet.  One of my daughters comes running back with a toy hammer and starts smashing the cereal into smaller pieces.  They’re definitely creative.  And so the terrible two’s with triplets begins.

About a month ago, I “met” (through the internet) a mom with twins that started her own t-shirt business.  One of the shirts that she offers reads “Why can’t I have a time out?”  I must admit it would be nice.  I look forward to carrying some of her maternity shirts in the next month at The Gentle Nest.  We are also in the midst of developing a couple other maternity shirts to add to our product line.  Look for the new additions in the next month.

Warmly,

Beth

There is life after bedrest.  It’s been almost 2 years since my bedrest journey.  My son is now 3 1/2 years old and my triplet daughters will be turning 2 years old in May.  Life is good - crazy at times - but good.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  The past two years has gone by so quickly it’s hard to believe how much time has past.

In the past year, The Gentle Nest opened for business.  It’s been a wonderful experience.  Recently, we’ve added a few enhancements to the site.  First and foremost “Free Shipping”.  We’ve also included an expanded Resource area.  In addition, we have added several new products over the last few months (and plan to keep adding).

I look forward to adding the “Lose Your Mummy Tummy” DVD to our product list along with the Tupler splint.  I would like to say that (physically) I’ve made a full recovery from bedrest and a triplet pregnancy - but truth be told I have a long way to go.  A few months ago, I was a physical therapist due to a whole bunch of issues (lower back pain - abdominal weakness, shooting pain, etc.).  Well - she recommended a series of exercises which are pretty much identical to the ones in “Lose Your Mummy Tummy”.  The physical therapist told me that pregnancy causes your abdominal muscles to separate and bedrest (and a multiple pregnancy) only aggrevates the condition.  There always seems to reasons not do start a program to address these problems.  After almost 2 years, I can say it doesn’t get any better with time.  So - I think my time has come - it’s time to get on the program.

I look forward to sharing more in future posts.

Warmly,

Beth
